Well-Being Resets: Morning Ritual Tips {Video}

Well-being morning rituals and reset practices change your energy, day and stress level. They do so for me.

This is not new knowledge. Ancient and indigenous cultures embedded some of these practices into their daily living in conscious and unconscious ways.

My morning routine has some daily rituals, and some practices I do a few times a week. The morning resets I do come from several practices that call to me. The practice either energizes, opens or calms my wiring… my body, heart, mind or spirit in some way.

Some of my red flag reset nudges are when my mind feels foggy or chaotic, or my body feels tight or constricted. My practices and morning routine may be longer then, as I consider my energy and time management. I ask myself, “what do I need now to be a better functioning human today.”

By need, I mean I sense into what in me needs some extra TLC… my body, heart, mind or spirit. Signs for me, and most, are what feels tight, constricted.

My favorite regular morning reset practices that I choose from include nature walks, breathe work, qigong (arm swings especially), meditation, kundalini and yoga. Daily, even brief some days, are: walks, gratitude journaling, breath work and qigong arm swings.

Getting started? Pick one practice to do, or two. Keep it simple.

What morning practices do you do? What resets you …your body, mind, heart?

Take a step and start.

Tame Your Inner Critic Voice: Impact of Ennea Type

What’s your Inner Critic voice, the ‘Judge’ say to you?

That ‘Judge’ voice is an unconscious voice with sayings or messages that aren’t accurate. But you accept the voice as yours. Until you learn to stop, pause and discern what’s your real inner voice saying.

The Inner Critic (IC) is often attacking and harsh. Though not always. It can act like an inner moral compass. It tells you what to do, how to be, who you are … or who you are not.

And…. it doesn’t know and show your truth, reality. It’s reacting in an unconscious auto-pilot habit.

For some, the IC voice is a soft whisper and for some it’s a loud harsh voice. Unrelenting.

Your Enneagram type can influence your Inner Voice message. Enneagram type 1s often have a harsh inner critic voice saying “You must be good. Do it perfect.” Or “I must teach others the right way.”

When the Inner Critic Voice speaks, and it will, find your real inner voice. Your truth.

How?

Pause and consider the voice. Who had that Inner Critic voice in your family system, in your cultural or social systems? Ask yourself… “who’s voice is that?”

The Inner Critic Voice is not telling you the truth. Not your real truth.

Certain Inner Critic Voice messages show up stronger for different Enneagram types. Such as:

  • “I’m not enough, or good enough” (Type 1s, 2s).

  • “If you take care of your own needs, you’re selfish. Don’t be selfish.” (Type 2s).

  • “You must keep the peace, be easy and please”. (Type 9s, 2s).

  • “Wining is the most important thing.” (Type 3s).

  • “Be powerful, and don’t show weakness or be vulnerable.” (Type 8s).

A well-regarded book to help tame your Inner Critic is ‘Soul without Shame: A Guide to Liberating Yourself from the Judge Within’. The author is Byron Brown, a well-known Diamond Approach teacher and author. The book explores spiritual and psychological topics such as soul, true nature, personal will, joy, curiosity, compassion, peace and presence.

Find your own voice, tame your Inner Critic.

And, as well-known neurobiologist Dan Siegel says … open to seeing things in curious new ways as a dance, into the ‘plane of possibility’.
